NAMIBIA Correctional Services and Khomas Nampol continue to set the pace in the Southern Stream First Division after recording contrasting victories over the weekend.

NCS were pushed all the way before beating Mariental Sport Club 2-1 at the Mariental Showgrounds, while Khomas Nampol thrashed DTS Hopsol 8-1 at the DTS field in Windhoek.

NCS now lead the log on 28 points, but Khomas Nampol are just three points behind after a huge victory against DTS Hopsol.

Erasmus Ikeinge opened Khomas Nampol’s account in the fourth minute while more Nampol pressure led to a DTS own goal five minute later.

DTS managed to keep the rampant policemen at bay till the 30th minute when an unmarked Michael Nghilondo headed in a cross to give them a 3-0 lead by halftime.

The floodgates opened in the second half as Nampol scored five more goals, with DTS’ defence at sixes and sevens.

David Hango made it 4-0, while two goals in two minutes by Erich Tsam put them 6-0 ahead midway through the second half.

Jakobus Vries made it 7-0 after a great solo goal, and although Rowan Engelbrecht scored a consolation goal for DTS, Johannes Shiweda scored Nampol’s final goal to seal an impressive victory.

Third-placed Blue Boys, meanwhile, were held to a 1-1 draw by Spoilers, while Try Again beat Date Eleven 2-1 to join the latter on 16 points.

Windhoek United moved up to eighth position on 12 points after beating Ramblers 3-1, while bottom-of-the-log Western Spurs got their first win of the season after beating Northern Stars 1-0.
